So far in 2006...

• 1 cadet gained the only Essex Wing place to the USA for a 2-week International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE).
• 2 cadets attended the selection weekend for the Junior Leaders course, and have both successfully been offered places.
• 9 cadets attended Summer Camp at RAF Lyneham.
• 4 cadets attended October Camp at RAF Marham.
• 2 cadets went to the Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre at Llanbedr in North Wales.
• 1 cadet and one staff attended Germany Camp at USAF Ramstein.
• 1 cadet attended Germany Camp at RAF Rheindahlen.
• 1 cadet gained a week-long Parachute Course.
• 10 cadets qualified for the new St John Young LifeSaver Plus badge and certificate.
• 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards were gained.
• 5 Millennium Volunteer Award 100 hour certificates were gained.
• 5 Millennium Volunteer Award 200 hour badges were gained.
• 2187 Sqn gained 1st Place in the Essex Wing postal shooting competition.
• 1 cadet gained an individual best shot of Third Place in the Essex Wing postal shooting competition.
• 35 cadets gained Air Cadet Radio Operator Certificates.
• 2 cadets gained BTECs in Aviation Studies (Intermediate level).
• 1 cadet came in the runners up for Essex Wing Cadet of the Year.
• 2 adventure training weekends were held.
• 6 cadets had a Gliding Induction Course in Vigilant gliders .
• 32 flights were taken by cadets in the Tutor trainer at RAF Wyton.
• A successful fundraising Barn Dance was held, as well as two Indian Dinner nights.
• Visit to the Flying Legends airshow at RAF Duxford.
• We were on duty at the Southend Airshow - cadets gained flights in a the Hercules, Lynx and Chinook aircraft.
• Some cadets gained Canoeing BCU qualifications.
• 3 cadets represented Essex Wing in the London & South East Region Athletics competition and gained Wing Blues.
• 4 cadets and 3 staff attended a Scuba Diving training day, which gained a PADI qualification.
• Several Orienteering training events were held.
