There is also the opportunity for cadets to apply for both Microlighting Scholarships at RAF Halton, and for a two-week Hangliding Course, that takes place in north Wales. There are also week-long Parachuting Courses at RAF Weston-on-the-Green. All three of these fantastic courses have been gained by Air Cadets from Canvey Island in recent years.

If flying is something that interests you, whether it be as a future career as aircrew in the RAF, an airline pilot or just as a plain hobby, the ATC gives you the best opportunity to take to the air!

Overseas Flights

Sometimes Air Cadets have the chance to gain an Overseas Flight. These are special flights, whereby a spare seat may be available on an RAF transport aircraft. The flight may go to an RAF station in Cyprus, Germany or Gibraltar. This gives you another great chance for a free flight on a military aircraft, and to speak to the crew! If you live some distance from the RAF station you are due to fly from, you will be given a rail warrant to get you there, free of charge.
